Re: eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA
Hi,
I am using version 2.3.0.16 on my eDRUMin 10 with Ubuntu 23.10 and I am so far very happy with the performance. However, I encountered two issues related to the hihat.
The first problem is that some rare combinations of hihat pedal movements and hihat hits can lead to a situation where most light hihat hits are blocked. This blocking is also visible in the screenshot attached as a red rectangle in the hihat cymbal signal visualization. When I took the screenshot, I was holding the hihat pedal down and only hit the hihat four times for testing. Other than that, I was not moving at all. Light hihat hits within the red area were discarded without a visible reason. While the red area is usually related to the xtalk function, it seems that xtalk is not the issue here.
Could this be a bug or am I missing something in my settings? My pedal settings are attached as well.
As a second problem, which also existed in previous versions, the software crashes when I try moving the hihat level sliders in the hihat levels mode. Surprisingly, I sometimes succeed in changing the levels without crashing if I move the sliders very quickly. Otherwise I have to restart the GUI multiple times in order to make small adjustments to the levels. This could be a bug specific to the linux version.
Thanks for the good work!
Martin

Re: eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA
I'm not setup well for development on Linux, so it'll take me some time to figure out the crash. What hihat controller are you using?
I just tested here and it's not crashing. What is happening is that the software is hanging. In fact, unplugging and replugging in the eDRUMin resolves the hang. I suspect the software is sending too much data too fast to the hardware and the Linux driver just can't keep up. Should be an easy fix.

This has been fixed in version 2.3.1.mkosch wrote: ↑Wed Nov 15, 2023 10:02 pmAs a second problem, which also existed in previous versions, the software crashes when I try moving the hihat level sliders in the hihat levels mode. Me, too!dsteinschneider wrote: ↑Sun Nov 12, 2023 2:25 amI've been upgrading through the hub since the eDRUMin 4 was released. The first few times I bypassed the hub.
Really, because - back then I just mounted it in the deepest corner of the drum kit. Not only connected to an "active" hub but also
this hub is hooked up to a 5m USB active USB extension. And I definitely have been to lazy to unmount the eDRUMin,
to carry it the to the PC, to update and then to mount it back again to the rack.
I mean, it might be dependent on whether its an active or passive hub and what else is connected to this hub.
During update you should not run out of power. I think that's the point. I don't know, maybe the starting current of the edrumin
is a bit higher ... etc.
So, sorry, my devices were never updated directly connected to the PC.
Re: eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA
Hello there,
First of all thanks for developping amayzing tools!
I have experienced some GUI visualisation freeze and crashes on my linux setup but restarting eDRUMin usualy fixes this. I have recently bought a Roland VH-11 and tried to set it up and realized I could not find the link button - seen enclosed picture.
Maybe it is related to the update of my firmware. Is it possible to update the firmware from Linux.
Many thanks !
Setup:
Ubuntu-Studio 22.04.3 LTS installed on an old ASUS i3
red eDRUMin 4 interface - one of the first versions
Zoom Livetrak L-12
Ardour - DrumGizmo - drum sounds from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOOSbhV ... sBrederlow
ddrum snare stereo trigger, roland VH-11, roland PD-8, roland CY-15R

Re: eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA
It says the firmware file.is missing. My build script is probably forgetting to copy it. I'll check tomorrow.
Re: eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA
I checked and the firmware file is included in my build script, so I'm not sure why it's missing on your system. Perhaps you can manually copy it into the correct path. You'll find it in the installer package.
Re: eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA
Thanks Rob. From the downloaded eDRUMin linux Control App, it seems only the ED4R3 and ED10R2 contain an .hex file.
Re: eDRUMin version 2.3 BETA
Okay. I will double check.
