Changes in build 2
  • Fixed an issue with some hall effect sensor based hihat controllers.
  • Fixed polarity control for hihat controllers.
Some hall effect sensor based controllers where being detected as Yamaha hihat controllers. If you are having issues with your externally powered hihat controller, set the pedal type to 'Hihat' and set the polarity to 'Roland'.

I ran into an annoying bug using my eDRUMin 10 where it messes up my ride settings (don't know if specific to beta).
Steps to reproduce:
* Connect Roland CY15R to inputs 9/10
* Select Roland 3-Zone Cymbal for input 9
* Select Roland CY15R preset
* Input 9 is now Roland 3-Zone Cymbal, input 10 is Bell input
* Switch eDRUMin off and on again
* Input 9 is now Dual Zone Cymbal and input 10 is Mesh Center Piezo

I'll look into it in the morning. Thank you for the very specific steps to reproduce.

I tested this today and everything works more or less as expected (there is a small UI display issue I will fix). The Roland CY15R preset is setup to use a single input, not two. So the moment you apply that preset, input 10 is no longer configured to be its bell input.

I agree that this is not intuitive behavior, and I'll think about a way to improve the situation.

Got it. Apart from this issue, I absolutely love my eDRUMin. Maybe have two presets for either single or double input?

Hi Rob, I wonder if we could revisit the idea of separate velocity curves for bow and edge triggers please?

My use case is metal cymbals with rubber edges, and both materials respond completely differently, especially at low volumes.

It's mostly an issue on the hi-hat for me. To get the edge responding right, the curve has to be increased dramatically at the beginning, which then destroys the dynamics of soft bow playing.

Currently something has to compensate, and I believe separate velocity curves would eliminate that.

Thanks!

Also, a UI indicator on the curve would be much appreciated! ;)

I would second this. For me it’s an issue on the ride cymbals too. I like a very sensitive edge on my ride but if I turn up the scaler you the point where it triggers with a lighter hit the velocity will register too high.

I want to sit on 1.3.2 for a bit until I'm absolutely sure it's rock solid, and then I'll start work on 1.4. I suppose we can start a wish list. No promises on any of it though.

* Maps for hihat pedal assignments.
* Presets for hihats.
* Note banks for hihats.
* Multiple Velocity Curves.
* Edge / Bell scalers down to 0.5
* Allow Bell Input to be on a dual mono input (so you don't waste the tip)
* Record assist (this one's for me)

For the wishlist:
- Export and import ALL settings (like a snapshot) for each device.
Miscellaneous Roland triggers. ED-10 + ED-4. MacBook Pro (2015), 16G RAM, Big Sur. Superior Drummer 3. Logic Pro.

Wishlist looks good! Thanks Rob.

I wonder if there needs to be a metal china input type added to the pad list, as the frequency response is entirely different - any chance I send you a sample of it?

In terms of 'rock solid', I had my first crash today. I'm unable to replicate, but I'll endeavour to report what happened:

1.3.2

Messing with HH pedal curves and calibration, device suddenly stopped triggering all inputs. Firmware reported as 1.0.0.0

Ran update to 1.3.2.5 and it hung.

Power cycled device, and firmware back to reporting 1.3.2

Ran update and now rocking 1.3.2.5

Only oddity now is the ride bell now shows as incompatible, when clicking on the ride input the exclamation point disappears though. It functions fine as before.
