Setting up Positional sensing halo trigger
Re: Setting up Positional sensing halo trigger
it's a 25 mm piezo, I read also elsewhere the quality of the cone's foam has to do with it, don't know which type he uses but some say for positional sensing to work best you need a high quality roland cone or the blue ones from R-Drums
Re: Setting up Positional sensing halo trigger
I’ve received the ddt-140 snare. I’ve set up positional sensing with hot spot suppression on, it detects center, off center and edge hits. Only thing is when going from center to off center the first hit always trigger the center, I mean the transition from center to off center is not as smooth as the transition from off center to edge, also doing a roll off center it jumps back and forth between off center and center.
Re: Setting up Positional sensing halo trigger
Can you post a screenshot of your settings?
Re: Setting up Positional sensing halo trigger
Settings look good. ED4 and ED10 have slightly different trigger circuitry. I made changes for ED10 to get more reliable positional sensing, but I haven't made changes in the firmware to reflect that yet. I'll spend some time on this for version 1.3.1. Should be able to get a bit better definition between center and off-center from ED10 yet.

Just getting around to setting up my ED4! So far loving it! I’m definitely gonna be adding drums that use PS. This is kinda scary. I missed the sale on the ED10. I’m wondering how key the different circuitry is? Should I be worried
Thanks in advance!

Re: Setting up Positional sensing halo trigger
The circuitry is almost identical. The biggest advantage of the ED10 is that it can handle signals that are 30% stronger.

What you mean by that? Could you please give a real world example?
ps.
Sorry for ot
Re: Setting up Positional sensing halo trigger
Well, some ED4 users have complained that their pads are too hot and even with a gain setting of 1, the signal gets clipped. They are forced to lower their triggers or use potentiometers to reduce the signal. ED10 is less likely to have this kind of problem because it can handle signals that are 30% hotter.
