I should read the rest of this thread - maybe someone else has already suggested Cantabile. It's really great live performance software, the developer, Brad Robinson (Australia) is really sharp and always implementing requested features. The Solo and Performer versions are paid but you can start with the Lite version to see what its all about.

Just bought two of these:
Going to build a rig to mount them vertically to either side of my kick pedal, one on either side of my toes. Flick left to scroll through the 4 snares, flick right to scroll through the 4 kick drums. Ive only been drumming for a year so my right foot can afford to take on some more usefull tasks!
