My new edrumin thread
Re: My new edrumin thread
I do plan to, but I want to wait until I'm sure my memory structures are set in stone. I don't want to implement that feature too early and then end up having to do a lot of work to update stored presets in the future.

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense; cool that you will implement the save feature at some point.

Re: My new edrumin thread
Thanks so much for the info guys! I can’t wait to get me edrumin.
Re: My new edrumin thread
I just received my edrumin last week and sat down over the weekend to try to set up my snare. I'm having some issues I hope you guys can help me work out. I'm using a 14in converted snare with center mounted piezo and rim pizo attatch to the shell. First off, my PS doesn't seem to be sensing right. The indicator always stays to the far right unless I hit really hard right at the edge, then it moves to the middle but never to the far left. Also, whenever I hit over the hotspot it triggers the rimshot. I've played with the rimshot range but nothing seems to change it. I also tried to reduce the hotspot but most of my hits do not even appear in the threshold dial. I was also getting the odd side stick when hitting my drum head but not that I changed xtalk to 0 it is better. Is there a video for setting this up? I seem to be getting more confused and feel like I'm blindly changing settings now.
Re: My new edrumin thread
You asked about videos... did you watch the ones on the site?
Visit here
https://www.audiofront.net/eDrumIn.php and then click Videos.
In your case watch the second one. Rob has promised a PS video but no joy there yet. (we users just ain’t ever happy)
Or here is a direct link to YouTube for the mesh head drum setup: https://youtu.be/4sacaCU19oE

I tried two DDT MS Snares with a center mounted piezo on the eDrumin, both the 13 inch and 14 inch version. When I tried the 13", I ran into the same problem that you describe: hitting the cone itself triggered a rimshot note.
I figured that it had something to do with the assembly of the snare, i.e. the height of the cone being too high. I also had rimshot triggers when using it with my old module, but not as many and I needed to hit the cone much harder, but the problem also occured.
Lowering the cone helped with the frequency of the mis-triggering but it didn't go away fully.
I blamed the specific snare, the 14 inch version didn't have this problem. But the rim-triggering didn't work well (as I read on forums, it seems to be a weak point of the DDT Snares), that's why I sent both back.
My Medeli snare, although being considered as inferior in quality, works much better overall with the eDrumin.
Since I use SSD5, which doesn't support PS, I don't mind not having a center mounted piezo which would offer PS. But I can understand your struggle, I didn't get the PS inside the eDrumin App to work properly when I tested the two DDT Snares. I won't say it's not possible but I wasn't able to dial it in intuitively and at one point, I just gave up because I cannot use PS with my VST SSD5 anyways. Wasn't worth the struggle for me.
I yet have to get my hands on a Roland center mounted piezo pad like the PD-128-BC to test
- if PS works better with Roland pads
- and if the rimshot mis-triggering occurs with these pads, too.
So maybe try to lower the cone to see if that solves your problem of the rimshot mis-triggers?
Best regards,
Pim
Re: My new edrumin thread
Thanks for the advice everyone. I actually had the rim triggering with head shot problem with my 16in a to e Tom. I lowered the cone before and they helped immensely. That was my first thought so I’ll try that to see if it is better.
I’m also going to tighten the hell out of my reel feel head to see if that helps with PS.
Thanks for the video link. Sometimes it’s so obvious you miss it. I’ve looked several times in the page for videos but had my blinders on I guess. That video was super helpful.
I have two babies and a pregnant wife so I have to sneak around to find time to diddle on the drums. Hopefully I can try it out in the next couple nights. Thanks everyone.

Re: My new edrumin thread
If you are having PS issues, make sure you update to the latest firmware / software. Lots of small issues were fixed about 2 weeks ago.
As for triggering issues with DDT snares, the problem is that the rim signal is generally weak, but becomes strong when hitting near the sensor. I should be able to combine info from the hotspot suppression system to prevent those false rimshot triggers.

Re: My new edrumin thread
I just received mine in the mail last week. Do I still need to update?Rob wrote:If you are having PS issues, make sure you update to the latest firmware / software. Lots of small issues were fixed about 2 weeks ago.

So I lowered my cone (loosened the straps holding the trigger against the head) and tightened the drum head. It seems to have gotten rid of the rimshot mistriggering problem and PS is looking more accurate. It is now consistently moving toward the left through the three zones. I did not have any time to try the hotspot suppression and need to calibrate settings better, but changing the physical aspect has definitely helped. Thanks again for the advice everyone.
Re: My new edrumin thread
It doesn’t hurt to check. The last device I received was about 5 versions behind.AKA Wayne wrote:I just received mine in the mail last week. Do I still need to update?
