Two things I would do before you consider returning it.

1. Post a screenshot of your settings.
2. Test the ring connection of 2nd connector with a multimeter. There should be a connection between the sleeve and ring when you press on the bell area.

I did some troubleshooting with the supplier and they determined it is defective as well and are going to send me a replacement without requiring that I send back the defective one.

This works out ok because I get a working 18" ride, and can use the existing one as a crash, or a second ride using zones.
