It looks like it's going to work, but to do it right, I'm probably going to need to be able to have two hihat Kit Pieces (one for each pedal input), otherwise I won't be able to completely ditch the 'link' control--more work.

I found a bug. I guess this is where I should report it.

After running 1.6.2 build 6 with my eDRUMin 4 for awhile, the hihat pedal button on the top right stops working when I attempt to click it for editing. It will turn lighter when the cursor hovers, but is dead when trying to click to edit....nothing happens until I quit the program and re-run it and it then works normally.....until it happens again. Rinse, repeat. Win 10 with Reaper. This has happened at least 6-8 times I'd say over the last couple of days, or pretty frequently in use. It appears all of the other pad edit buttons to the left work fine.

I think I've got a good solution to handle assigning pads to the hihat pedals.

Rob I am not sure I understand. Does that mean that 2 mono inputs will still have to be linked to a pedal? What if I am using 1 pedal as a bank changer? I was hoping your fix would allow for 20 mono inputs with a pedal only linking to one of those. If what you are saying is that another mono input would only be linked if the other pedal was set to hithat then that would probably work for what I am looking for. Thanks for thinking about this and be willing to make changes, Mbira

Either the tip or the ring of a dual mono input can have its notes controlled by either hihat pedal.

Furthermore the change allows you to have any number of pads controlled by the hihat and allows me to ditch the link control in the pedal editor making things less crowded.

that sounds good all around. It would be cool if one could then choose separate midi notes for the multiple hihats connected to the same pedal. Hihat 1, hahat 2, hihat 3 could all trigger different sets of notes. For me that would allow the pedal position to determine the different sounds of say a conga drum ( open tone, slap, bass) and on another input it could be dumbek sounds (Tak, Kah, Dum) etc. But I imagine that is not possible as the pedal stores the midi notes for all hihat inputs linked to it. But what if the notes were stored in the hihat inputs just like drum and cymbal inputs? Is that easy to do? That would make the multiple hihats way more versatile, especially for someone doing crazy shit like me. I have know idea how hard these things are to do, but having the 8 levels of notes appear in an input selected as a hihat instead of in the pedal input certainly would give more options if doable. Hope this feedback is useful but understand if it is not. -Mbira

Not possible.

bummer. oh well hopefully what ever you do will make all the inputs available for dual mono use. I will look forward to the next firmware update. Oh and can I rollback the firmware to the previous version if things I setup no longer work in the new firmware? Just curious since most of your customers are using this to trigger a regular drumset and I am doing more unconventional setups.
thanks, Mbira

Yes, but your settings will be lost so make sure you save a device preset before you update so can restore your device after downgrading.

ok that is great just in case. I look forward to trying out the improvements you make and it's good to know that I can always go back to what I had. I am still setting things up, it will take some time to get my setup switched to the edrumin 10 as I will have to make all my own presets. But your software is quite easy to use and I expect it will go smoothly.
