Hey guys.
So as I was making the preset post, I was messing around with my kit. I had to climb over it to get something and when I jumped back on it to play the ride didn’t work…
Frustrating but I have heard this happens to alesis cymbals a lot.
I opened it up and there are no visible loose wires but after plugging it into the ED4 (absolutely nothing at all at all velocity) and also my alesis trigger IO (sometimes triggers on the switch and responds - incorrectly - when you choke it.) I think iv figured out the piezo is broken or has come unsoldered.
Anyway…I will try to fix it however, I was going to buy a new ride next month anyway.
My question is this…
Iv noticed the three zone 18” lemon ride is roughly the same price as the Jobeky low noise cymbal (would probably go for the 20” jobeky one).
Which one would you go for? Or which one did you go for? Why did you go for the one you did. Do they both trigger well? I had my alesis 16” tripple zone ride hooked up with one cable using bell sense and it worked Well. Better than it did when it was hooked up to the alesis module with two cables. Do the lemon or jobeky cymbals work with the bell sense? I do have an ed10 coming so it’s not a big deal if it only works with two cables but it just work VERY WELL.
Anyway, I hope you respond soon as I would like to purchace one of them so that it arrives quickly. Having no ride cymbal sucks balls…
Cheers
J
Jobeky or lemon ride cymbal??

Re: Jobeky or lemon ride cymbal??
Think I actually settled on neither of them. I must admit I was a little worried to order from jobeky simply due to stories iv heard, although I have never actually experienced bad customer service when I was with them last. In fact I ordered a 12" double layer head from them days ago - mind you, the skins aren't built to order.
I basically didn't have a reason to choose diamond over jobeky other than the fact diamond also ships them with rotation stoppers (this is the most common complaint I hear from jobeky customers. That's its annoying they spin loads. I plan to actually replace all my alesis cymbals with RF ones eventually but most wanted is a HH after the ride. I already have a goedrum hh controller so I just need the cymbals - I dont like the way the rubber pad doesn't swings and sway when I hit it. Makes it feel very un natural. I can loosen the clutch so that it sways and swings more but when I do that it means yes the hi hat swings more however it comes at a price as it also starts spinning. I have kind of fixed this by wrapped the cable to the pad as far as it will go around the stand one way and the hh controller cables all the way wrapped around in the opposite direction. Seems to work. I know no one really cares but hey, count this as a public diary entry!

No advice for you other than this YouTube link by the same guy who reviewed the ED10:

He seems to think the Lemon is a great value. I ended up ordering the 18" 3-zone today so I'll see how it goes. Apparently the Lemon has rotation stopper built in as well.

Re: Jobeky or lemon ride cymbal??
Ah interesting. Didn’t know it came with a rotation stopper. Do you know what, I was getting aching in my wrist after having played my kit for about 1/2 h and I was pretty convinced it was from my ride cymbal as I noticed when I didn’t use it the pain didn’t come on.
Having now broken my ride cymbal and temporarily replaced it with a smaller dual zone crash cymbal I can now confirm this is the case. It was an old rubber alesis cymbal and I must admit this kind of put me off of buying another rubber cymbal.
I think it must have been that the rubber was worn down and I was mainly hitting a thick metal plate. If I had thought about it I’d have realised none of my other rubber cymbals hurt but I honestly didn’t really want to take the risk so that’s why I ended up going for a LV cymbal instead.
I also think it will help me get ‘in the groove’ a bit better as well because I noticed when I switched from pads to an A2E conversion, it was as if everything felt better. It was as if the sounds had magically become a lot better as well. This obviously wasn’t the case but it did make me realise how important the ‘feel’ of my drums is!
I’m hoping having a cymbal that looks more and feels more like a real cymbal will help me feel better at my kit!
Also I really like the dude from diamond drums. He is such a nice guy and emailed me back within minutes of having emailed him. It was a Sunday as well. Honestly it was this that convinced me to go for them instead of jobeky. Also the fact he always tests his products before sending them as well. It’s a shame because I really like Jobeky’s skins and their triggers are ok as well, if a little hot!
