edrumin with mimic pro
Re: edrumin with mimic pro
I've looked into this recently, and the processing part to distinguish shallow and deep rimshots is pretty simple. For me the tricky part is finding space on the UI for adding yet another note control. I will likely need to make significant UI changes before I'm able to support shallow and deep rimshots.

If you are able to, it would really be great! It'd be awesome to fill in the last part of the positional sensing puzzle on the Mimic with that 5th articulation!Rob wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 10:46 pmI've looked into this recently, and the processing part to distinguish shallow and deep rimshots is pretty simple. I put this video out today, been meaning to make it since I first reviewed the eDRUMin 10 but haven't had chance until now -
Re: edrumin with mimic pro
like others, i'd love to have shallow/deep rim shots. personally, this is more important to me than using positional sensing to have different articulations on the snare head or ride bow. (re ps on the rides, haven't been able to sit at the kit for a few weeks but will send my settings as promised in another thread when able, Rob)Rob wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 10:46 pmI've looked into this recently, and the processing part to distinguish shallow and deep rimshots is pretty simple. When will this be implemented sir?Rob wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 10:46 pmI've looked into this recently, and the processing part to distinguish shallow and deep rimshots is pretty simple. Wanting to have this so we, Mimic users can enjoy the features of Edrummin!
Thanking you in advance!
Re: edrumin with mimic pro
I would need to add a control adjust the cutoff between shallow and deep, and then I would need to add another note control for the second RS articulation. It's pretty crowded already, but I'm open to suggestions...

Add a small button above POS, so top right of the bar that says “Page 2” or something like that. Or “Advanced”. Or “Rim shot”. When you select that then what is there goes away and you are left with blank space to add whatever you need. Then have a button to return you back to the normal options. So maybe standard and advanced like you did with note bank and velocity curves?

This is what I was thinking. Bring the articulation selector into standard mode and then just display the relevant controls and hide the rest. Here's a mockup of what it might look like when the hit articulation is selected. Thoughts?
Re: edrumin with mimic pro
i haven't been able to sit down with the software for ages so not sure how that compares, but i like the idea of giving yourself space to add more options and controls for users (especially this particular one). and it looks fine to me. The only thing i would say is maybe you could make the 'advanced' button more visually prominent

Looks good. Will deselecting advanced keep the normal, legacy layout with no additional rimshot controls for the standard user? I do think most advanced users will be able to easily understand a sidestick scaler is only relevant to the sidestick articulation. So I would need to select the side stick articulation to find the scaler. Same thing for rimshot scaler and the “new” shallow to deep rimshot control. I would need to select the rimshot articulation to adjust those settings. Will you keep/repeat the standard /normal rimshot range control on all articulations? I could see wanting to adjust that range from any articulation.
BTW I like the file name, crowded. So the R&D department is having some fun naming the CEO’s new pet project, Project Crowded???? Oh wait it’s all the same person!
