I've gotten lots of requests to name inputs, but I don't think that is going to happen. Saving text on the device consumes a lot of precious memory and then sending that data to and from the device and the control application is also not efficient and would degrade performance. So for now, it's not going to be implemented. Instead I will allow the user to set a custom icon which requires about 64x less memory and bandwidth.
- Overhaul the preset manager to support trigger presets, pedal presets, and device snapshots.
- Advanced crosstalk constraints to better deal with situations like having a BT-1 attached to a snare pad.
- Allow using the position of the hihat pedal to control the note bank of the linked hihat cymbal.
- Allow saving to be switched from auto and manual.
- Allow changing the icon associated with a particular input.
I was away for the forum for awhile while traveling for business. So sorry I didn’t see this earlier. I think the list is great.
Do you have any more detail on BT-1 integration? Monospace wrote the following in the unofficially supported devices posts about the BT-1.
“ Roland BT-1: by default in "switch" mode (i.e. with internal crosstalk cancellation enabled; reduced dynamic range) When used in dual mono mode, *and* reversing polarity or using a splitter cable, Tip will enable "sensor" mode.” monospace
The same post also says the following:
“Roland BT-1: Set the input type to 'Mono' for 'sensor' mode, or set the input to 'stereo' and pad type to 'rubber pad' and only use the 'SS' note if you want to use the 'low sensitivity' mode.”
If 1.5 came with a BT-1 pad type (selectable under Select Pad Type) that made this simple that would be great. Reference my below comments on graphics a BT1 type graphic would be nice (could even just be a generic effects pad type graphic, doesn’t have to be a exactly a Roland BT1)
With respect to advanced crosstalk constraint. In the past I’ve seen posts about cross talk across USB HOST midi devices is set to a default amount and cannot be changed. Will control of this cross talk amount be part of the 1.5? Also, I’ve written about this before. When I’m using a slave module the eDRUMin 10 does a very good job sending MIDI to the slave module. The cross talk cancellation is very good. My situation is that I still have some pads connected to my slave module. However the slave module does not perform cross talk cancellation with MIDI In. However, I can turn local control off the slave module so the only sounds come from MIDI In. However, if the MIDI note is generated in the slave module, transmitted to the eDRUMin 10, the appropriately cross talk cancelled MIDI note is not returned to the slave module. I would like to see the option in 1.5 where I can turn this feature on. Something like “slave module local control off” which will mean the eDRUMin sends received USB Host MIDI notes back out on the USB Host port appropriately cross talked.
Text on the pad icons is not an high priority for me. With the auto select feature I just need to hit the pad to find it on the app. To me one of the more confusing things when I first set up the eDRUMin was what to select for my KD10 kick pad. I selected rubber pad even though it’s not a rubber pad, and that is the graphic shown. So if anything could be improved with the graphics my suggestion is for the kick. Maybe even a Kick Tower Pad selection for Select Pad Type would be great, instead of a rubber pad. I realize some DIY folks and others use different type of triggers for acoustic kick edrum conversions, so this pad type is only for KD10 or KDA220 type pads.
Is the ability to add an additional assignable MIDI note to a pad and/or HH pedal note possible? Velocity dependent and on/off via note banks would be great!
Lastly, about note banks. Are more options than 4 possible? A few more would be helpful.
