Yamaha PCY 155 Trigger Problems
Yamaha PCY 155 Trigger Problems
Just got a brand new PCY155, I was able to get all 3 zones working but when I hit the edge I get bell sound sometimes. I cant play any clean cymbal swells because of this. Tried various calibration thru the knob and interface but still has the same issue. Support is yet to respond to our last conversation but Im hoping to get some answers here.
Re: Yamaha PCY 155 Trigger Problems
Need to provide more info.
What are you triggering? A module? A VST?
Are you using Yamaha's felt or something else, or nothing?
Did you try swapping the cable with another cymbal that triggers reliably? If there's a short in the cable connectors, it would also introduce unwanted hits.
I have the PCY155 and it triggers superbly, with zero crosstalk between the 3 zones.

Re: Yamaha PCY 155 Trigger Problems
If you are getting BELL when you are playing the EDGE, it implies an issue with the pad or your cable.
Getting BOW when playing the EDGE implies an issue with your settings, but getting the BELL implies that somehow the RING is getting shorted to GND. A bad cable could easily explain this.

Re: Yamaha PCY 155 Trigger Problems
I just used the available preset "Yamaha 3-zome cymbal".
If something is wrong, it is in your chain: cymbal - cable - eDRUMin.
Really, the PCY cymbals were the easiest to set up.
Did you buy the cymbal new or 2nd hand?
There is a pot inside the tigger box of the pay. Maybe you can try dialing in the sensitivity from there, if it was bought 2nd hand and the previous owner played with the settings.

This is a brand new cymbal. I would agree that it is easy to setup, its just that I do get some mistriggers. Maybe its the pad, but one option left is to really try it out to a Yamaha Moduleperceval wrote:I just used the available preset "Yamaha 3-zome cymbal".

Re: Yamaha PCY 155 Trigger Problems
Any cymbal is prone to occasionally trigger low velocity bow articulations when attempting to do a swell on the edge. Light bounces on the edge just don't have enough pressure to trigger the edge switch, but that won't result in the bell being triggered.
Have you tried a different cable yet? If you aren't doing a swell, do you still get mistriggers?

Re: Yamaha PCY 155 Trigger Problems
If just occurred to me that the problem could likely be that another one of the cymbals you have connected is triggering the bell--that is is merely a crosstalk issue. Are you using BELL SENSE with any of the other cymbals you have connected?
Re: Yamaha PCY 155 Trigger Problems
Should easy to confirm...
When doing a cymbal swell on the edge, look at the eDRUMin window app.
Does the bell note light up, or does it come from another input lighting up too.
So, you are using a VST?
It's really easy to have the same MIDI note assigned to 2 different cymbals. For example, SD3 has a few MIDI notes triggering the same sound. If there's an overlap, it would also trigger something else at the same time.
