Have a look at the hall-sensor thread in the DIY section here. I just followed this guide and built my own hall sensor this weekend. Took me about 2 hours to finish and works great!

Beeing used to playing hall effect pedals (ddrum & 2box) I would prefer this. Also, no mechanical wear to be expected is a big advantage to me.

In the manual there is a wiring diagram and reference to a compatible sensor. It doesn't offer the greatest resolution, but it's easy to build uses current from the eDRUMin, so there's no need for external power.

I use one of this, made by drone triggers in the UK, it's an optical controller with reflection plate and works perfectly with my diy cymbal.

So, did it today. Indeed, easy to build.

I copied the ddrum4-design, where the sensor is fixed at the pad and the Magnet is mounted like a clutch.
