+1 for DIY. You’ll get exactly what you want in size and color, etc.

But be careful sourcing parts from different vendors though as shipping cost will eat away any savings.

I think I have to make it a DIY project :)
Or at least investigate it fully.

Can you point to some threads/videos/websites about doing this DIY? (snare)

I thought he was pretty fair - the website is a bit confusing when you start your order but makes sense once you step through. I contacted Mitch at UFO Drums and he straightened me out on a few things I was still unclear about.
