Newbie questions on eDrummin and VSTs

Post by alder »

Just set up my ED10 and I run in to some issues of course.

I'm using Addictive Drums2 and there's a function where the program learns (and assigns) what pad should produce what sound. But should I do these settings or is all handled by eDrumin mapping function?

There's an Addictive Drums drum map built into the eDRUMin Control Application. I would use that as opposed to learning assignments in AD.

That’s what I thought as well. And leave ADs learning functionality to for pads that have no corresponding pad in the map?

Potentially, just make sure it's on a unique midi note.

What pads aren't included in the drum map? It's fairly comprehensive.

The map shows a kit with four toms and three cymbals, but I have five toms and five cymbals. Or am I misunderstanding something here?

No... what is being said is to use the drum map as much as you can. For your extra toms and cymbals you have to manually set them. Set the eDRUMin to the note already assigned to the drum in AD.

If in AD the drum center articulation is set to A#1 then set eDRUMin to A#1.

Why not set I manually within AD? That’s what I do for SD3. Is that the wrong way to do it?

There is no wrong way. The drum map is just a handy little timesaver. You can map your triggers to any darn MIDI note you like.
Miscellaneous Roland triggers. ED-10 + ED-4. MacBook Pro (2015), 16G RAM, Big Sur. Superior Drummer 3. Logic Pro.

OK, next newbie question. In AD -> Map Window you have Map presets. Currently it's set to TD-10 as this was the module I used before getting the eDrummin.

There's obviously no preset for eDrummin avaliable. Should I choose "Empty", continue with TD-10 or pick something else?

I would use the AD preset in AD.
