I've added a little section to the manual about setting up your hihat on a hihat stand, with a Roland VH-10 as an example, complete with pics.

eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
Don't you mean counterclockwise? There's a marking on the knob itself that indicates CCW is more "closed", CW is more "open".Turning this knob clockwise makes the hihat more
sensitive to hard hard you press down on the pedal
when it is already closed.
For best performance in eDRUMin, you want to turn
this know almost as much as it can go in the clockwise
direction.

Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
No, I don't. Those markings are misleading. Adjusting that knob affects the maximum distance that plunger can be pressed. If you turn it too far in the counterclockwise direction, the plunger will bottom out early. You can actually hear the higher pitched tone as the plunger reaches the end of its travel. What you want instead is the bottom of the cymbal to 'impact' the top to the controller before the plunger reaches the end of it's travel, which results in more of a thud tone.
By setting this properly, you will get varying degrees of 'closed' depending on how much pressure you use. It's also important if you want to be able to use the 'impact' method of detecting the hihat 'chck' articulation.

Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
I had some success with Hihat splashes,
after I made some adjustments to the Hihat Stand e.g. travel distance noise reduction,... thank you Rob for some tips.
Unfortunately it is not possible to strengthen the string on the milenium Hihat stand
Do you think I need another Hihat Stand for spring tension adjustment for the Hihat Pedal with eDrumin to work better (opening faster) ?
was able to invoke some splashes with the builds 1.3 0 15, 17 and 18
but cannot recall how exactly, it were ssome extremer settings
on the Pedal curve, which also led to splashes for faster Hihat chicks.
I don't really understand rhe relationship of some settings, but my hope rises, that the Edrumins are not faulty,
only my settings ?!.
Iam really looking forward to the Hihat Video.
Regards,
Peter

The tension probably plays a bit of role, but the most importantly, there must be no downward pressure on the pedal once the hats come together. Are you trying to do the splash with your heel or the ball of your foot? You'll get best results using your heel and hitting the pedal a couple inches up from the hinge.
Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
My technique is probably horrible, but I've never had a problem playing splashes on acoustics, or on electronics for that matter. Heel or toe is irrelevant, as far as I can tell. The idea is that you "tap" the pedal, that is, you quickly bring your foot down and then let go. You need to go down to "all the way closed" but key is that you let go immediately. The quicker you can do that motion, the better.
You can find plenty of videos on YouTube illustrating the technique. The beauty of the eDrumIn is that it's the first trigger module I've played that lets you perform a splash in the same way you would on an acoustic hat.

Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
I think you're talking about the "tight" articulation. I've never had a problem achieving that by following the instructions from the manual (pictures below, I happened to still have it laying around.) I tend to leave the knob somewhere in the middle, for maximum flexibility, and it's definitely easier to get the "tight" sound when turning it CCW, and more sloppy when going CW. I've calibrated the eDrumIn to work with it according to the manual suggestion (actually more like 6mm clearance instead of 3mm) and it works great. In fact I think leaving a little bit of a gap makes achieving a fully open sound a little easier.Rob wrote: Those markings are misleading. Re: eDRUMin 1.3 BETA now available (again)
Those instructions are for a Roland module. The reason why it's important to not have a gap is because it's helpful for the eDRUMin to know when the cymbal is moving. If there's a gap, the cymbal starts moving before the position of the pedals start changing.
I've updated the that 'Setting up your hihat' document to make it more clear. Maybe give it another read.
