As I said in our private messages, some of the non-linearity has to do with how eDRUMin devices condition signals, and the non-linearity will be exaggerated with cymbals. The conditioning is required in order to support both peizos and switches. ED12 will perform better in this regard as the TIP and RING connections will have slightly different frequency responses. The Ring input is identical to all current eDRUMin devices, but the TIP connection is less sensitive to high frequencies and should perform better with cymbals, especially noisy ones.
I just had a chance to try with the yamaha cymbals again in superior drummer and the new velocity algorithm solved it. Minimal velocity curve needed, only to get the lower range right because the lowest velocity is like 20-30. I could not get the cymbal response to feel right with the bezier curves but this solved it.

On my kick drum for which I'm using the edrumin as well, the regular response works pretty good in superior drummer with minimal adjustments from the beziers. In BFD and steven slate no adjustments are needed.

I would like to set the velocity response algorithm separately and not globally. Any chance you could add this?

I posted build 3. This build should improve support for Yamaha pads / cymbals. Here are some of the issues I *tried* to address:
  • Unabled to trigger bell immediately after choking the cymbal.
  • On smaller worn out Yamaha pads, sometimes a hard hit to the rimshot would end up triggering cross-stick.
  • Improve bell reliability when using a Yamaha Adapter for rides that normally use 2 inputs.
I don't have many Yamaha pads to test with, so it would be great to hear any feedback from those who do, especially anyone using an adapter to make their dual input ride trigger trigger like a Yamaha.
Hi again Rob!

My e kit was in storage a while, just getting it set back up this weekend. Noticed the new firmware since I last used it.
I have some lemon 2 jack, 3 zone cymbals, And made a zourman style splitter with the resister in one side, to run as Yamaha 3 zone in one edrumin input - remember it being ok on my 18in ride, but noticibly less reliable than running as 2 jack rolland style on two inputs. Will try that splitter again after updating firmware and let you know!

Many thanks for the updates Rob.

Quick question - with the new mapping of transient magnitudes to note velocity, would you suggest resetting all velocity curves to linear and re-tweaking the curves as needed?

2.4.0.4 working well. Trying to decide if i prefer the new velocity mode. I think i do, but with some fine tuning of the curves still, but need to do some more testing...

One thing... the velocity curve setting appears to dim after selecting another input suggesting it's inactive (e.g. in the below I changed input 1 curve giving the first screenshot, clicked to input 2 and then back to input 1 and get the second screenshot)

I am running 2.4.0.4 and the eDRUMin app crashes or "Unexpectedly closes" quite a bit, to the point I would be hesitant to use it in a live situation. Is this a know issue?

No, it's not a known issue. Can you post the crash log?
