so i finally got my ED10 and hooked it up to my set. It took some time to dial in the sensors and feel properly, but now i am pretty pleased in comparison to the old Roland TD-12 brain. Especially the HiHat sensitivity and feel is unmatched now.

First, i have too many pads and cymbals for a single ED10 and thought i could "cheat" a bit using splitter cables.
While it basically works, i see some downsides:
1) Splitting cymbals results in loosing the choke functionality.
>> Is that expected or am i doing something wrong ?
2) Splitting pads results in loosing rimshot functionality. Edge sense gives only rim clicks.
>> Is that expected or am i again doing something wrong ?
3) Using edge sense on a split pad allows only very low velocity scaling (up to 5.0), whereas a non-split pad can go way beyond which feels more realistic. The split pad rim sound is barely hearable even on scale 5.0.
>> Could this be improved? I guess it's just a software "issue".
4) Bell sensing is a bit flaky on my Roland CY-15R. Either the bell does not trigger reliably, especially when hitting it with the shaft from the side (as most drummers would do on an acoustic cymbal), or it triggers along the bow on hard hits. It is an interesting feature, but IMHO not comparable to the feel of a two-cable setup.
>> I guess there's no magic setting that makes this feel more like the two-cable setup?
5) Same for bell sensing the HiHat (VH11). It does work but is not very reliable.
>> I noticed, that positional sensing would give more reliable indication of the stick position, so i wonder if this could be combined with bell sensing and only trigger the bell when PS is detecting a position near the center / bell of the cymbal?
Given all the tradeoffs i get using splitters, i am considering another ED8 or even ED10 if the issues cannot be resolved through better settings.
Thanks all, appreciate your suggestions!
Ralf.
