On Mac if you're using a non-admin account none of the presets are visible. It's a bit of a pain cause I have a non privileged user set up for my son for his practice and he can't switch presets when going from practicing with melodics to practicing with ez drummer.

I can provide more info if necessary.
Apologies for my insistence, but do you think this is something that can be addressed in a point release? It's a major workflow annoyance (at least for me). Understand it might not be priority but IMHO removing the need for unnecessary privileged access is always a good thing as it safeguards from unexpected bugs.

I noticed this as well, but attributed it to some oddity with my DIY ghetto hall sensor pedal setup.
I too have been frustrated by this phenomenon but attributed it to something mechanical in my DIY set up. Interesting to see other are encountering it as well

Just to update, I finally received my Lemon HH (Roland VH-13 knockoff) and was able to pretty much eliminate the extra hit with the Control software. When splashing the pedal it would trigger an open hat sound on foot release that didn't seem natural, although I imagine it's supposed to be there if you close/open too harshly.

I think it's fixed anyway...it's only been one evening tweaking it so, grain of salt and all that...

But it took some playing around with the green zone for Splash, tightening it up. I'm not completely sure how that zone really is supposed to work, only vaguely, so an explanation would help. I'm in "Levels" mode for the HH pedal.

The other thing I think that made a difference is reducing the cutoff for "tight" HH articulation than what I had with my previous setup (just a cymbal pad / hall sensor pedal).

Again, I should play with it more this evening and see but I've already noticed a big difference with this Lemon.

I've noticed it as well with a lemon hihat. Was not paying enough attention to nail down when it started. I updated to the latest firmware and enabled "fast stepping" and the frequency reduced, but it still definitely happens.
Hey, I just wanted to mention something about this now that I have just got the same Lemon HH.

I was getting unwanted "open" articulations after releasing the pedal and after tweaking the settings managed to improve it somewhat but it was still there until I realized it might not be a settings issue but the physical trigger itself getting momentarily stuck on release.

I added a small amount of plastic grease around where the shaft of the trigger slides through the housing and these unwanted articulations went away entirely.

Just to note though, that it's still important to tweak the control settings so that splashes and "barking" trigger appropriately too, but the lube certainly made the difference for me!

Hi,

yup, therfore I stick to my DIY Hall sensor, because it's contactless.

I am really fine with it together with a 3 zone 15" LEMON cymbal. So I can have a bell articulation.
When LEMON anounced this HiHat I was like, hmmm, let's get a real 2pcs Hihat pad, but the I noticed... 2 zone. Nope.
I'll keep my DIY crap. :-)

But - anyway - you are right. I refurbished a used Roland FD8, you know, this rubber part that presses onto the softpot,
here and there some lube and it was fine again.

i am wondering if the setting for Positional sensing Ring setting is working as it should? This is with center sensor mesh head pad setting. With the Tip sitting one can move both sides of the green area, but with the ring setting only the right side of the colored area is adjustable. Should both sides be adjustable with that too? thanks, Mbira

Improvements
  • Flash Presets can be loaded with program change messages. (Channel 14, programs 1-32)
Hi Rob,

the software is not reacting to Ch14 PC messages.
The MIDI monitor shows the incomming data but at least the software
is not changing values. (BTW there is a typo in the MIDI monitor: "progran change")

Thanks for your efforts!

Tried this beta with an efnote 14" snare pad with 4 side sensors, I got only center and off center hits, edge hits were hard to trigger, only max edge velocities triggered, if I increase the edge size I get edge sounds on center hits. Also the hold was calibrated at 30 something, a bit high no?

Btw, what did you do with the wood piece of the atv 13" snare? did you install it? the efnote snare has a separate side stick trigger which needs another input so maybe it interfered with the edge/rim triggers of the snare. I tried to set the xstick to 0 on the gain but it still got picked by the software.

Well I bought a ATV 13" snare and tested it with the atv preset, sad to say positional sensing didn't work, not sure what to say there... center hits, off center hits everywhere, it was all over the place, the head was tight enough, didn't mess with the settings, it doesn't work man.

Did you try toanually calibrate the positional sensing or just use the preset? I would try to follow the instructions on the PDF and manually calibrate. I going to tryy hand at a diy one in the near future.
