Upgrade from v2.02? to v2.2 v2.3?

Post by hang12 »

or continue living the old adage of if it ain’t broke, leave it be.

hello eDRUMin world - It’s been awhile since beta’ing v2.0!
After sort of a quick ‘feature or update list’ search of this forum for latest 2.1 and 2.2 versions and the beta of 2.3, which way to go?
or is it even a good idea or necessary? just trying to quantify the effort.
(is there a feature update list for v2.2 - I couldn't find it?)
(are there bug updates that are spelled out from 2.02?)

I'm not using maps (as I am using Max to re-map my 3 eDRUMin's as a whole), and not sure of enhancements for anything hardware-wise that I’m using either.
Slight gripe is I’m still not totally happy with the VH-12 response (and maybe I can/should still tweak using 2.02...) but otherwise all my Roland hardware (TD-20 era) works very well. Love using the eDRUMin's! Are there major enhancements to the HH triggering functionality from 2.02?

i have a main eDRUMin10 directly connected to my Mac, and that main device feeding a usb hub with sub eDRUMin10 and eDRUM4 devices off of it.
If I update, I am guessing that I will have to detach and direct update those ‘sub’ devices for firmware updates.
Are there major re-calibration’s needed - like noise floor jitter or sensitivity type adjustments needed after updating?

Saved my device presets today in anticipation. TIA for insights. ;)

I would go for version 2.3. There have been a few hihat improvements in version 2.3 (nothing earth shattering though). But as you say, if it's not broken, maybe don't fix it.

If you update your main ED10 to version 2,3, then you can update all the others without disconnecting them from the host port.

Thanks for the quick response (as usual!) - is it best to -initially- disconnect the 'sub' devices when upgrading the firmware on the 'main' device? ...then re-connect them and proceed with their firmware updates?
Are there any other sensitivity type update adjustments I need to look out for? I'm pretty happy with the current trigger settings for everything, other than some HH tweaking.
Any other mapping, or grand scale interface changes, to be aware of?
(I just wish to gently slip into the upgrade :) )

Shouldn't need to disconnect any of the sub devices. Not much else to say.
