Can this device be used with the Alesis IODock to control the pedal effects on the iPad guitar apps in a live situation. I was hoping to connect the midi expression device to the midi port or USB midi port the Alesis IODock but I can't seem to control the effects with my sustain pedal or my expression pedal. Even after changing the midi CC on the midi expression device.

Although it does change the volume and tempo with a camera connection kit, I wanted to be able to do a little more than that(ie:using cry baby wah effects CC4, etc.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It would seem that it should. I haven't used this product before, but the spec on the website would suggest it's possible. I'll have a look at the manual and or contact Alesis on the matter and get back to you.

Unfortunately, the USB port on the Alesis is NOT a port for connecting USB MIDI devices to the IO Dock as the labeling might imply. In fact, it is used to connect the IO Dock to a PC allowing the dock itself to be a USB MIDI Controller.

I can't think of a solution that would allow you to be able to use both the IO Dock and MIDI Expression at the same time.

What about connecting the midi expression to a mini male USB/female USB adapter and connecting that to a USB to midi cable and then to the io dock.

If not, are there any plans to make a midi expression device with traditional midi as opposed to mini USB connection?

I'll be testing the feasibility of 3D printing parts shortly. If I fine I can get good consistent results, I'll probably invest in my own machine and that'll open doors. That's all I can say for now.
