iPad keyboard

Hi, I am using Red Midi Expression and it is fantastic. Very well thought out and an exceptionally competent manual. Kudos to the designers. My gear consist of:
IPad 6th generation
M-Audio EX-P
Apple usb dongle
The problem is that when the ME is connected I cannot access my onscreen keyboard which is sometimes needed to adjust parameters. In fact, even if I am in a browser for instance, the onscreen keyboard will disappear as soon as I plug in the ME. It returns when I unplug the ME.
I found in the manual where it discusses this. I have set it for Midi plus control interface (no keyboard) but still the problem exists.
Any help will be appreciated.

Go into the firmware section and change class compliance to 'MIDI + Control Interface'

Thank you Rob for your quick reply.
However, I have already done that.I mentioned it in the original post. I thought it would be the solution. I tried to send a picture showing that it is set there but could not figure how to send the pic.
I checked it this morning and it is set as you say.
I will try again though.

Hmmm. It's late but I'll test in the morning to make sure it's working properly. You had also clicked on 'Apply Changes'?

Rob, thank you for your help.
I changed the class compliance to just midi as a testand the screen keyboard was all right.
Then I changed it back to midi plus control interface and the problem was still there.
Decided to close it down and reset (Apple logo) tablet.
Did the procedure again and it is all working now.
