Compatibility with Korg DS-1H Sustain/Half-Damper Pedal??
Compatibility with Korg DS-1H Sustain/Half-Damper Pedal??
I have a Korg DS-1H Sustain pedal which is also mentioned as a half damper pedal. I've confirmed this as when I connect it to my Korg Oasys directly to the sustain input on the keyboard it behaves as such. How does a half damper pedal such as this work with MidiEXpression. When I connect it , it goes detected as a high hat pedal. If I set it to controller #64 it maxes out to 127 when depressed but then goes down to 0 and then back to 45 when released. Please advise and thank you.

It shouldn't be detected A a hihat controller. It should probably show up as an expression controller. What version of firmware are you running?

The latest as I did the successful firmware upgrade as soon as I got it.
Re: Compatibility with Korg DS-1H Sustain/Half-Damper Pedal??
The reason I ask is because I made a small change to the firmware about a.month ago that might affect how the pedal is detected. Can you please have a look at the build number of the firmware so I can be sure.

just opened it up and it says current firmware; 2.8.2.22

Thanks. That is indeed the latest. I might need to buy that pedal so I can test with it.
Re: Compatibility with Korg DS-1H Sustain/Half-Damper Pedal??
that would be great as you may have the insight to understand how it behaves as a half damper sustain. Please advise.

I'd also be curious if the half damper feature of Yamaha FC3A works for you.

I have that pedal and it works fine.

So Rob,
In your last message you mention that when you plug in a half-damper pedal such as the Yamaha one you indicate it works fine. What type of pedal does it detect it as? How is it configured to operate? What I mean is that when I connect my Korg DS-1H it senses it automatically as a hi hat type pedal and when I press on it it configured for control change with a graph with min% and Max % Smooth and Rate settings. My channel is 1 and CC is 64. How is your pedal configured and detected as? Perhaps I can manualy configure the pedal type as that. Please advise. Since it's a damper pedal I wouldn't think you're only confiured for 1 /127 for on /off. Please advise with detail. Thanks.
