Plugin: approaches for changing parameters remotely?

Post by ericzang »

Good to see in the "Main Stage" thread here that some related changes are planned for 2.8.3. Perhaps it will solve my desired use case as well:
I would like to be able to remotely change the expression pedal curve parameters during performance. I'm using Ableton.

Some approaches I have thought of are currently not possible it seems:

1. Have more than one instance of the MIDI Expression plugin loaded and Enable/Disable them when appropriate (radio button style).

2. Or seemingly a better approach for making changes to only a few parameters, rather than needing two (or more) instances for different settings, be able to have daw automation access to the MIDI Expression parameters (as is available for most plugins).

3. Use program change commands to the MIDI Expression to change presets. I don't think this is possible (can not test at the moment).

Thanks for considering it!

Have you tried using a snapshot? I'll give your suggestions some thought.

Right... That won't help for remote operation.
