will this setup work

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying the MIDI Expression Quattro to use with my Boss FV-50H volume pedal and my Digitech FS3X footswitch, which has 3 buttons. Will this work?

I read in the FAQ that you'll only get good results from volume pedals with pots of 50k and less. Does anyone know whether this is the case for the Boss FV-50H? I have no Idea how to confirm this.

And finally, will I be able to use all three buttons of the Digitech FS3X footswitch to send out MIDI messages? And if not, will at least 2 out of 3 buttons work?

Thanks

The Boss FV-50H might work to some extent, but the FV-50L would work a lot better. As for the 3 button footswitch, you'll likely get 2 buttons to work, but I wouldn't expect the pedal sensing to detect it properly. You would likely need to use the Control Application to manual set input to footswitch.

Hi Rob,

I might just rather try to sell these two devices then, since I am not using them much for my guitar either anyways, and since neither of them seems to be ideal for use as a MIDI device. I could use the money to buy an expression pedal and a footswitch better suited for the job. I'll have 2 inputs on the MIDI Expression Quattro left to add more pedals later should I need to.

Thanks for the help!

I'm looking to get an FSX-3 myself.
It's just a single TRS jack, but I don't know if ME will detect it properly.
I am getting it via Amazon so will have a play and get back to you, if it doesn't work, I'll just send it back. :D

Update: The FS3X works fine on the first two switches, but the third is a combination of #1 and #2.
I am using scripting in Gig Performer to detect these MIDI events, but it won't work directly without some tweaking.
Hope this helps.
