Number of CC messages

Hello,

I've got a project where I need to trigger many notes while pressing a hihat pedal. I can transform midi CC to midi note, but when trying to use a TD12 for exemple, I don't get enough midi CC04 message. The TD12 output only a few CC04 messages (only 3 or 4 messages from 0 to 127 if I press the pedal fast, a few more if I press it slowly, but still not enough).

Could you please tell me how many messages are sent by the midi expression from 0 to 127 when pedal is pressed fast ? When pressed slowly ?

Maybe it needs to be clarified.

When I press my hihat pedal, my drum module (roland TD-12 or Roland TD-30) output only a few midi CC messages.
Maybe someone can tell me if the midi expression (Quatro or IO) output more midi CC messages.
When I had a Roland TMC-6, I remember it outputs maybe 64 messages from 0 to 127, even if I press the pedal fast, that was far enough for my needs...
I'm interested in purchasing a Midi expression quatro but I don't want to return it because it don't suit my needs.

Hi Sly,

Sorry for the late reply. A hihat controller, when pressed quickly, goes from 0 to 127 in about 15 ms. The MIDI Expression throttles its MIDI messages to a maximum of 1 message every 4ms. So in 15 ms, you get about 3 or 4 messages. But that's pressing the pedal very hard. A less aggressive action would get you a lot more messages.

The Hihat value is measured once every 0.5 ms. The throttling is there to prevent swamping the MIDI port with excessive data.
There's a good chance that I'll make the number of values / second user definable in the next major update. That would allow you to get a lot more data from the pedal.
