Pre-Purchase Questions

I saw your product and have some questions I would like to ask prior to purchase. Please note that I use Windows.

1. Will your product allow me to bypass the pedal inputs of my keyboard to control the volume and expression of my VST plugins in real time directly in my DAW (Cubase) or are there limitations on its usage (i.e.: I need to be actually recording in order to engage the MIDI Expression features)?

2. When using my DAW is your control software in plug-in mode as an insert only or can the stand-alone mode be used as well? When is stand-alone mode used?

2. Will your product work with programs such as Kontakt? If so how?

3. My audio interface already has midi in and out ports. Would the additional five pin midi connection on the MIDI Expression iO add to my setup?

Thank you.

As is the case with any MIDI track on a virtually any host, PC or Mac, the track must be either record enabled or monitor enabled (but not necessarily recording). I know Cubase has preferences that you can change to prevent the track becoming disarmed after clicking on to another track, BTW.

Yes, the standalone version of the control application works just fine. The only reason you would use the plugin version is if you require saving different settings for the device on a per project basis.

Umm... It'll work well?!? Basically you can use to to control parameters in Kontakt. I do believe Kontakt also has a pretty comprehension MIDI learn function that makes working with MIDI a snap.

The 5 pin MIDI port is useful for more advanced operation. For example it can be used to dynamically transform MIDI data from another hardware MIDI controller.
