Hi Rob, Few questions prior to sale

Hi Rob,

First of all I am a guitarist so that puts me in the IQ swamp. I do have some experience of studio work and I'm proficient on the PC and been building them for more than a decade. I have read the FAQ so some questions have been answered but I just may need them confirmed.

I am interested in MIDI Expression Quattro or IO. Basically I want to be able to use my DAW/VST to control guitar based software to act similar to a pedal board. ie Volume, Wah, Comp, OD, Dist, Chorus blah blah. So programs like pod farm, bias fx, guitar rig etc. Originally I was considering a roland fc300. But I prefer your box of tricks and build my own.

Q1. can you use more than one pot switch per jack input on the Quattro/IO? so 4 switches into 1 jack leaving 3 free?

Q2. So stomp boxes dont work to use as switches or volume pots to turn VST knobs.

Q3. Would any of the Boss GT series ie GT6 work and have any midi output ie volume pedal, switches?

Q4. Normal wah or volume pedals don't work due to the pot inside? I seen the compatibility list.

Q5. would standard amp switching pedals work, I have a hughes & ketter and a marshall one?

Q6. the midi on your best version, does that mean I could connect my midi from my GT6 and get pedal functionality? What would be the advantages of connecting my usb midi keyboard controller to this, none I guess?

My plan is to use either 2/4/8 standard switches plug those into 1 or 2 channels on your device and have them all work independently ie separate CC. Then use a bank of 8-12 controller knobs to use to adjust dials on the DAW and/or Pedals. Does all of this sound plausible. Your product seems so flexible I can see me using it for a range of things.

Thanks Rob and great forum. All the best Phil

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "pot switch". A pot is a pot and a switch is a switch. For each input you can connect one pot (like an expression pedal) or up to two switches (dual footswitch).

That's correct.

Generally speaking, any device that has its own audio processing is not going to work.

A normal volume pedal can work, but you only ones with a pot of 100k or less will function well. Typically active volume pedals have this kind of pot and should work. There's a diagram in the FAQ showing how to hook that up.

Most will, but some won't. Can you link to images of the pedals so I can get some more information about them.

One Quattro would support up to 8 switches. And if you use the Dual CC (short / long press), each switch could send two different CCs.
