Tap tempo button

Hi, could a small sustain switch (or something else) be used as a tap-tempo button with my guitar amp simulator? S-Gear, if you're familiar with it.

I haven't used s-gear, but I've done it with Guitar RIg. I can't imagine it not being possible.
