MIDI Thump for Tone wheel clone
MIDI Thump for Tone wheel clone
I need to create a simple "thump" with every left hand bass note from my Nord C2D. Vintage Hammond players used to simply "tap" a G or A foot pedal to accentuate the actual note value being played by the walking left hand bass line. I.E., the "thump" of say an upright string bass. So, I can receive a note on with velocity midi signal to my C2D on MIDI channel 3. Can your expression pedal send a MIDI "note on with velocity" signal to note value "?" on channel 3, when activated by say a momentary foot switch ? Or, would you recommend another solution ? Thanks !
Re: MIDI Thump for Tone wheel clone
Yes, MIDI Expression will allow you to use a sustain or footswitch to send a MIDI Note. However the note will have a fixed velocity. If you need velocity sensitive notes. then you'll need a pedal like a Yamaha FC3A (half damper pedal). Half damper pedals function a lot like expression pedals and MIDI Expression can use them to trigger velocity sensitive notes.
