how to configure as Midi GATE

I use a Goldin midi guitar into Roland GR30 and then into a Casio keyboard with smart accompaniment.
When I play a triad, the casio will generate accompaniment. I want to riff on top of the accompaniment but the other notes mess up the accompaniment. I need a switch to block all the midi notes while I am riffing over the accompaniment.
What I want to do is:
1. start with midi switch OFF so no notes go through
2. depress the pedal to allow midi notes into the casio to detect the triad
3. after the chord is detected, release the pedal so no more midi notes go to the casio
So can i use this box as a hard switch like this please?
Do I need to insert a SWITCH in series on the midi path?
Or, can I get a 1/4in switch, into the MidiExpressionBox, which is connected to the GR30 to gate all the MIDI info to the Casio.
Maybe simply changing the midi channel would do the job?
Thanks
