Piano pedals

Post by RB »

This isn't really a question about MIDI expression, but it IS related.

I am running Pianoteq and I have a Yamaha keyboard that accepts the old style phone jacks.
I have a Yamaha FS and a FC pedal, those work OK, but I would prefer to get pedal inputs into
the midi stream for pianoteq to respond to.

What I want is to set up a 3 pedal set to more closely resemble a grand piano, with their input
going through a MIDI Expression quattro.

I am reasonably certain that the MIDI Expression quattro will do the job, but I am in search of
a decent 3 pedal board, the sustain pedal needs to be a continuous controller, not an on/off switch.

CME offered their GPP-3 a few years ago, but it gained a poor reputation for reliability/quality and was withdrawn
from the market.

So, what are others using for 3 pedals "Grand Piano" style ?
There are 4 inputs on the quattro and there are some grand pianos with 4 pedals, e.g. Stuart in Australia, but
3 should be enough -- for a while :D

MIDI Expression is designed to work with either single or dual switches. The ROLAND DP-10 is a great pedal as it has a switch that allows it to act as a sustain on/off or CC--and when you flick the switch MIDI Expression will automatically reconfigure itself to support the mode. I don't however know of any good 3 pedal combination pedals.
