While MIDI Expression Control includes an integrated firmware updater, users having issues can follow these instructions to manually update their firmware. The lastest firmware packages are linked below.
Instructions PC users can just follow the instructions included in the firmware installer.
OSX users should use the instructions below.
1) Extract all the files from the archive into a folder.
2) Close MIDI Expression Control if it's running.
3) Plug in the MIDI Expression.
4) Control-click and open the Teensy.app found in the 'tools' subfolder.
4) Control-click and run the UPDATE_FIRMWARE script.
5) Select the color you want to use and press RETURN.
The script opens the Teensy application and programs the chip. If successful, you should see the progress meter moving as the chip is being programmed.
The MacKungFu trick did not do it for me on the latest macOS, but the following did:
0. Complete the prerequisite steps first (such as quitting the control app)
1. Open a terminal
2. With a series of 'cd' commands, navigate to the 'tools' folder where the Teensy app is found
3. Type
Teensy will automatically open and will display a success message if it worked.

Teensy prompts me to "Press Button on Teensy to manually enter Programming Mode." First, I thought Teensy was a program, not a device. Second, what button? I've got a MIDI Expression.
Okay, fixed. The program button is on the pc board inside. Use a knife or straight slot screw driver to grip the hex nut on the 1/4" input connector. Gently separate the case from the assembly (mine required additional cursing). Inside, under the tip of the connector, is a small button. Follow instructions as stated, then gently re-assemble unit. It's really quite easy.
I have a "Red - Quattro" interface (micro USB) -purchased in 2018- really new, i don't know the firmware version, i'm running in OSX sierra 10.13.3 (17D47) and Win10, the problem was in win 10... It was working totally and perfectly in both Operative systems... everything very good in NativeInstruments and Pianoteq software... until...
I made the mistake of updating the firmware (from the updater in the "MidiExpressionSoftware"), and then: My Quattro was immediately fulminated, in the act, dead, because it isn't recognized anymore by the "MidiExpressionSoftware"(neither OSX neither Win), because when i connect it, and open the "MidiExpressionSoftware", it asking connect a MidiExpression Interface ("Black" screen)...so, i try get it back to life my unit, whit the "Script and Teensy" package in this post...
The instructions that recognized the "Update" script are:

BUT... as you can see in the text before, the Teensy software ask me that press the "Program Mode" push microswitch button, physically into the "Quattro" Interface (or at least i think, there it is... i'm not totally sure about that... somebody knows it?)...
So...
1.- ¿How can open it and push that switch, without harm the box interface plastic enclosure?
2.- ¿The waranty is lost if i open the interface?... So, the "Script-Teensy" update method isn't a permitted updating method when the midi expression unit doesn't respond to the "USB-based request for reboot and is mandatory to push the "ProgramModeButton"?
3.- Which update i have to use for my "Quattro" interface: The "Quatro update" or the "Quattro 2 Update"???
4.- Was it an error to have updated it fro the "MidiExpressionSoftware"?
5.- Should it be updated only with the "Scripts/ Teensy/ Push Program mode button" method?
6.- Or is ok update it from whatever both methods, and what happens is that my interface is defective because its turn blocked when i update it from the "MidiExpressionSoftware"?
Or: somebody can tell me how can bring to back life my red "Quattro" interface again please???
i tried already the "official" instructions by AudioFront, but doesn't work: The unit still remains "dead"... "sleep"... by the way, the "led flashing" at the start up when the box is connected, doesn't turn on anymore neither.
