MIDI Expression 2.9.5 BETA is now available for testing. Because of many under-the-hood changes in version 2.9.5, downgrading will result in your device being factory reset, so I'd advise anyone testing this version out to first make a snapshot of your device before updating so that you can get your old settings back should you need to downgrade.
New Features
Added sub-modes for sustain / footswitch type pedals so that most modes with press/release, short press/long press, and inc/dec sub-modes.
Switch type pedals can now control transformer transpose and transformer channel.
7bit or 14bit parameter values can be inserted into sysEx messages and all pedal types can now send them.
Improvements
UI cosmetic / layout / organization improvements.
Reduces switch type processing latency / jitter to less than 0.5ms.
Improved support for StudioLogic SLP3-D.
Improved support for rotary encoders.
Parameter feedback support for 14bit CC.
Parameter feedback improvements when using transformer.
On another MIDI switch product I've seen a feature called "Long Release" where the button sends a different message(s) if the release is preceded by a long press than it does if the release is preceded by a short press (short release). It's kind of clever.
Another feature I've seen is the ability to send multiple events from one button press (or release), and in another scenario, there can be a series of numbered button presses, i.e., the first press does action 1, the second press does action 2, and the third press does action3, etc. Cycling through those.
I know these add complication to an otherwise clean & simple UI. However, in all these cases, they are nice ways to get more functionality out of one button/input.
Fixed an issue with 3-Port MIDI Expression iO with USB-B connector that was causing it to show up as only having 1 input. The issue was also present in version 2.9.4 firmware.
