Does MIDI Expression work well with Mainstage 3?

Post by swolock »

Sorry, I'm kind of a newbie with this stuff. I have a midi keyboard with no expression pedal jack and I'd like to add an expression pedal for volume. Can I assign and map a pedal connected to a MIDI Expression to a patch's volume parameter. I know this must sound kind of dumb because I assume that's what these are for, but I thought I should check first. Also, assuming this will work, does anyone have a recommendation for a pedal? Thanks.

I don't use MainStage, but I do have it for testing purposes. Like you said, I can't imagine it not being able to control the volume of a patch, but I'll give it a try and let you know.

It'll work fine using the default MIDI Expression and Mainstage settings. When you plug in an expression pedal, the MIDI Expression will automatically sends out CC7 'Volume' and Mainstage recognizes that as 'Volume' by default. Couldn't be easier.
