Managing hotspot with positional sensing

Hi,
First of all, this plugin is pure awesome!
Anyone who uses a mesh pads with a VST like superior drummer will have had problems with the hot spot in the middle of the pad where the pickup is.
If you strike the head at the same velocity through the middle from top to bottom you'll get much louder triggers in the very center of the pad. It's like the proximity effect you get with a microphone. There's a few ways of working around this but they all end up slicing off some of the dynamic range.
I was wondering if it would be technically possible to have an additional velocity curve that kicks in just for hits to the 'center' position? It'd be like a compressor / limiter that is there just to help manage the hotspot. You'd have the best drum trigger module available then... I'd ditch the TD-20 for this!
