Setting up DSP trigger with NI Battery

I searched for a thread of anybody using Battery as sample management and DSP/edrummin i/o to control hardware parameters. On paper it sounds like the perfect setup. Would I just bypass (or set to “zero”) midi trigger parameters built into Battery and use DSP to setup my drum pads (currently Rolands). Thanks!
