Setting up DSP Trigger in Gig Performer

(1) A possible bug: the AU doesn't show MIDI in or out in Gig Performer. The VST does.
(2) Since gig performer is overwhelmingly visual it'd be a lot easier to discuss this with image upload turned on, as it is in some other forums here. Would this be possible
(3) So far, with the VST plugin, I've made the obvious connections, and things work if I hit the bug GUI drum pad in the DSP Trigger UI, but I can't get an actual drum hit to trigger that, which just worked automatically in MainStage. The waveform and bars do work when I make a hit.
