My setup does not use a drum module and drum triggers.

I have setup.a low volume kit with aquarian superpads on the toms and kick. Each drum is mic’d and connected to an audio interface. I use reaper as my DAW on my iMac.

I want to use a vst plugin, like steve slate. Since I don’t use triggers, will DSPtrigger take the live audio from the drum mics and convert to midi which then can be sent to the vst for drumkit sounds ?

Did this actually work for you? I play online regularly with a fully mic’d acoustic kit and would like to switch to a “quiet mode” when it gets later … and then switch back. Throwing Aquarian pads on the drums and using a vst plugin would be awesome if it worked. Even so, don’t know what could be done about the cymbals. I have a mic on the hat and overheads for the rest.
