DSP Trigger with a Roland Module

I'm looking to retire my Roland TD-20 module and after asking the VDRums forum, it appears the eDRUMin interface will do the job. However, I would be interested in buying the DSP Trigger software to get familiar with it if it was possible to use my TD-20 as a temporary interface. Will the software work with a module as the interface or does it need a ‘dumb’ interface sending raw MIDI data?
