Re: Latency
DEVICE->SOFTWARE Then there's about 3ms of latency from when a MIDI note is sent from the eDRUMin until it reaches software running on the computer. I've measured this on my edrumin and didn't get the same results. However good news, the edrumin is very fast. It seems to add about 1 - 1.5ms for me....

Re: eDRUMin 2.4 BETA
As I said in our private messages, some of the non-linearity has to do with how eDRUMin devices condition signals, and the non-linearity will be exaggerated with cymbals. The conditioning is required in order to support both peizos and switches. ED12 will perform better in this regard as the TIP an...

Re: Anyone have a good idea on how Roland's digital hi-hat, snare, and ride work?
I’ve DIY’d a ”digital” snare drum surpassing the roland one in many aspects (better cross stick, better PS, pitch detection). Although I’m not copying rolands design, I wen’t with my own approach. The advantage is that you can process the sensors separately. The roland digital snare uses multilatera...

Re: eDRUMin 2.4 BETA
Sorry. This is a misunderstanding on my part. I should hide under a rock or something. You are already doing this as you just said: "velocity involves taking the square root of the force because KE = 1/2 * m * v²". When I was testing the yamaha cymbals I could not get a proper response, I ...

Re: eDRUMin 2.4 BETA
Yeah I tried again with a kick drum in stead of my shitty yamaha cymbals and I agree with you that the linear force method feels most accurate. Question is why? Maybe you are doing something in the conditioning circuit that compresses/distorts the signal (or I'm doing something in my circuit that is...

Re: eDRUMin 2.4 BETA
Are you mapping the peak amplitude from the piezo to a midi velocity linearly in the linear force?

Re: Roland digital ride
No need to feel dumb, it’s not common knowledge. Looking at my message I may have worded it a bit harsh. Not my intention.

Re: Roland digital ride
Come on guys, it’s a digital ride meaning it outputs midi. It doesn’t actually output any analog signals. You can’t hack into the code of it, it’s encrypted and even if it wasn’t it would take a lot of work to descipher it. You could probably figure out the handshake that enables the CC but that’s it.

Suggestion for velocity control improvement.
I’ve tried the edrumin on cymbals so far and while I really like it I’ve noticed something that can be improved. The velocity control lets you control the velocity curve by freehand. This is great to have the freedom to adjust as you want but you have to do it by ear. Much better to do it mathematic...
