Re: positional sensing help

So, another update.

I stuck the 3-ply back on, and took time to make sure everything was seated correctly and the head was evenly tensioned. I then brought it up to my desired tension in the star pattern to try to keep things even.

And...the drum is much more well behaved.

:?: :?:

Oh well!

Re: positional sensing help

So another update here. "muffling" the 2-ply head by sticking my wallet on it gives brilliant results! @Rob - I'm no good with electronics/soldering, but any other suggestions based on the above? I'd rather not play with my wallet on the drum each time, I doubt it's always full enough to h...

Re: positional sensing help

I may have jumped the gun on this one. Since spending more time with the 2-ply head, I've noticed double-triggering when playing rimshots that has been really difficult to dial out. I've been trying looser/tighter head as well as adjusting scan/hold/decay. Unfortunately the only thing that seemed to...

Re: positional sensing help

Thanks Rob. I couldn't wait and fitted the new 2 ply head. It's *much* more predictable and consistent. FWIW, it's a Jobeky 2-ply prestige. Edit: The snare actually sounds so much better now, I suspect that off-centre may have been triggered at points during regular playing when actually hitting the...

Re: hi hat soft stepping and SD3

Thanks Rob, I'll give that a try. If I reduce the physical travel distance, would I need to make some config changes on either the edrumin software or in SD3? e.g. run a recalibration either side. Just conscious of the fact that if I do nothing in that regard after reducing the physical travel, then...

hi hat soft stepping and SD3

I'm using Superior Drummer 3 and trying to refine my hihat controller to be as realistic as I can make it. When I make short steps (or even slightly larger steps at low velocity), I noticed that CC values were entering SD3, but no note values. Here's an image showing my edrumin config in the foregro...

Re: positional sensing help

Thanks for the update, that's great to know Steve!

Coincidentally, my 2-ply head just arrived in the last hour. I'll stick it on the drum sometime over the weekend.

Thanks Rob for the tip.
