There is a MIDI software called MIDI-OX that might be able to change the channel for you.
If you can't change the MIDI Channel, can you change the MIDI Note?

I confirmed this works with Hosa YPP-111 or YPP 106 cable and FS-5L on my TD-20X with VH-11 or FD-8.
