Re: DIY: finally, 3-ply+hotspotless+positional sensing
The other thing one could try if they couldn't fabricate that piezo holder is to drill a hole at the bottom of the foam cone/cylinder with the diameter of the ceramic (maybe very slightly larger) so the ceramic isn't pinned down by the foam. Alternatively, you could persist with a ceramic down desig...

Re: DIY: finally, 3-ply+hotspotless+positional sensing
I'm just experiment with different forms of foam dampening for the center to make it less hot compared to the outer parts (as the center has bigger vibrations). This comment is quite interesting, and suggests that you still have a problem with hotspot in the middle of the snare? Adding foam will al...

Re: DIY: finally, 3-ply+hotspotless+positional sensing
So the Poron foam came in and it's a huge improvent over the sofa foam that I used before it, way less dropoff in response on the head when you get further away from the side trigger, to the point where it's negligible. I'm just experiment with different forms of foam dampening for the center to ma...

Re: DIY: finally, 3-ply+hotspotless+positional sensing
I can vouch for Drone Triggers as well. I had some of the old radial type centre cone design that he used to make. Very high quality, and it worked pretty well. However, still had the issues with hotspot and PS didn't work that well with 3ply Mesh Heads, but none of those are to do with his designs....

Re: DIY: finally, 3-ply+hotspotless+positional sensing
Given my recent understanding of the rim signal playing a role in PS (with the right settings) and the traditional PS working based on a center cone, I am going to give the following a try: IMG_1447.jpg The idea being that: - the 4 head triggers together forming an alternative center trigger (but h...
Re: Latency
The lag problem: Lag is more of an issue with e-drums that any other case. I want to hear sound in under 4.5ms from the time I hit the drum. With 3ms of that taken up by triggers, leaves 1.5ms for everything else. I went with RME MADI FX and Ferrofish A32 to handle it. Have to use RME configs with ...

Re: Roland digital ride
I think this has been answered on this forum as well as V Drums Forum. My understanding is that because ED is USB class compliant, the Roland digital pieces (Ride, Snare etc.) will function and probably still work as analog devices. However you won't get any of the PS data because that requires a Ro...

Re: DIY: finally, 3-ply+hotspotless+positional sensing
I don't think it would be necessary to have independently adjustable platforms unless your drum itself was uneven This is also my feeling. As Trigmann produced the (complicated) hardware only, I don't think the lack of his cooperation should stop you. At least on the Roland system, one would need t...

Re: DIY: finally, 3-ply+hotspotless+positional sensing
Just to update, Trigman unfortunately no longer has access to the design information about the project so couldn't fabricate anything. Looks like it'll be full DIY from here

Re: DIY: finally, 3-ply+hotspotless+positional sensing
Yeah, I remember when I first read AKA Wayne's thread and you started to try and reproduce his build, I shared your disappointment when reading the posts where you (temporarily) gave up after trying so many things and not getting it right. So I will definitely do this then. I will draw a schema for...
