Making cables. Unique observation using Cat5

Post by Gemini8026 »

Hey Rob, moreso a question for you. Will the cable type affect performance?!?

I wanted to make my own cables and I have a TON of cat 5 so I figured I could piggyback some signals over the cables. I had a unique observation where the unit wasnt acknowledging a double mono input I made for two tom toms. I switched inputs and it worked fine. However the input works fine with a regular stereo cable. On some inputs it works fine, on others it doesnt. So on that note I am curious if the cable can cause impedance issues?!

Edit. Looks like resetting the port solves the issue.... Dont mind me. But the question stands. Is Cat 5 good or bad?

It's safe as in you're not going to damage the device. Weather it works or not is another story. I can't see why it wouldn't work. That being said, you are diving into unsupported territory.
