TD-17 slave module to eDRUMin 10

Hi, new eDRUMin 10 owner. It just arrived in the mail yesterday. I currently have modified TD-17 KVX kit with some extra and upgraded pads. My plan is to use eDRUMin to trigger EZDRUMMER2 and SSD5.5 on my MacBook Pro. However, most of of the time I’m practicing my laptop is not available or cumbersome to set up. So I want to continue to use my TD-17 most of the time.
When I ordered eDRUMin my original plan was to use the MIDI out from TD-17 to MIDI in of eDRUMin for the majority of existing pads. Then I would connect an extra crash cymbal and a PDX-8 (3rd rack tom) I have to the eDRUMin. Plus I wanted to connect my PD-125BK snare pad (with potential for positional sensing, just not with TD-17) to the eDRUMin. I was planning to use a stereo splitter (not the splitter kind used for splitting to left/right, but the kind that turns a single headphone jack into two headphone jacks). That way the TD-17 still had the snare signal (I would shut off the MIDI notes) when not using a VST, and the EDRUMin would have the same signal for when I was using a VST. Finally I would connect the eDRUMin USB to the laptop to trigger a VST. Before the eDRUMin arrived I was experimenting and the TD-17 had significant cross talk issues with the third rack Tom and less so on the extra crash cymbal.
Now I’m considering removing the TD-17 cable snake all together and have all my pads connected directly to eDRUMin 10. Then slave my TD—17 to the eDRUMin for the times I’m not using a VST.
However I have two questions that didn’t seem to be completely answered on the website description of the eDRUMin 10.
1) If I set my TD-17 USB DRIVER MODE to GENRIC and attach the eDRUMin 10 HOST USB port to the TD-17 will the HOST port send MIDI out to TD-17? eDRUMWORKSHOP on YouTube had a video with how to do this, but he used a different MIDI to USB device than an eDRUMin 10.
2) Will the HOST USB port on eDRUMin receive power from the TD-17 or will I need an external power source for eDRUMin 10? Note: when the TD-17 is slaved it’s because the eDRUMin 10 will not be connected to a computer.
