Hi, I am not sure if this is a function of edrumin10 or of the software i am using. Can edrumin 10 be selected in multiple instances of Battery 4 or other software as a midi in device? On my setup in the midi settings of battery 4 , when I have edrumin selected for midi in on one instance then try to select edrumin for midi in for another instance of battery 4,it is not possible to turn it on.
I want to use a foot switch in edrumin to change banks but each bank has to be in a separate instance of Battery 4 as there is no more cells for more banks. I am not sure this is a battery 4 issue because some other midi in devices are able to be enabled in more than one instance? Any thoughts? thanks, Mbira

You don't mention what OS or hardware you are using.mrmbira wrote: ↑Sat Jan 29, 2022 9:30 pmHi, I am not sure if this is a function of edrumin10 or of the software i am using. The eDRUMin can send out triggers on multiple MIDI channels, and as long as it is defined as a multi channel MIDI 'instrument' on a computer system, it should then be recognized by a VST/AU host (DAW, sequencer, etc.) as a multi-channel device, which you could then assign multiple tracks on various channels to trigger the various instances of Battery 4.
I use the eDRUMin as a controller for multiple instances of SD3 on separate MIDI channels, typically using Digital Performer as the host.
Re: Can edrumin 10 be selected in multiple instances of Battery 4 or other software?
thanks hang12, I have an older laptop running win7 64bit. I have always run Battery 4 as stand-alone instances. I guess I should explore if I have enough memory and power to run them as plugins in a DAW. Maybe it would use less resources???
I am also looking into midi-ox as a way to be able to get midi from edrumin to each instance of Battery. Has anyone else made this work?
thanks again, Mbira

Re: Can edrumin 10 be selected in multiple instances of Battery 4 or other software?
Apparently this is a problem with windows OS allowing your midi controller to control only one app. But somehow some of them bypass this and are able to control multiple apps. Midi-ox does solve the problem though so all is good.

Hi,
so the idea with MIDI OX is already a good one.
Additionally, you need LoopMIDI
https://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/loopmidi.html
And then this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QqlmD-uWG4
I think, that will work:
You route/clone the eDRUMin MIDI data to the virtual MIDI ports, let's say loopMIDI_Batt4_#1 and loopMIDI_Batt4#2
and these virtual ports should appear in your Battery 4 MIDI config.
Or you grab Reaper or Cubase, Ableton Live ...
I use Cubase Elements 10.5, Ableton Live 11 and Cantabile 3.0. I startet with Plogue Bidule to more that one instance of EZDrummer2.
Now I do all the routing in Cantabile 3.0.
Hope that helps!

Oh, I forgot:
You have to select the input and output devices:

thanks Manuel, I will look into this. I would like to figure out sending kit changes to battery too.
