I'm still a new user, but I'm loving everything about this device. Anyway, onto my query...
I have an A2E 14" Snare conversion fitted with a Jobeky center-mounted trigger. The rim Piezo is fixed to the inside of the shell (as expected) and this area of the drum sits at the 6 o'clock position to pick up rim-shots.
The drum is fitted with a 3-ply mesh head and the hoop has a thick rubber Roland hoop dampener.
The BT-1 is attached to the drum for cross-stick purposes and set up with the X-talk setting. I've always been disappointed with the the split rim-shot/cross-stick arrangement on e-drums and have been using an extra pad for cross-stick triggering for a long time.
I've calibrated the drum and allocated the rim-shot MIDI note to the cross-stick and rim-shot sensing in the eDRUMin software. This seems to work well and the BT-1 is triggering the actual cross-stick sound with the provided X-talk setting. My problem is, I really want to nail down the rim sensitivity so I can play really lightly on the rim if necessary. However, I'm not sure how to set the cross-stick and rim-shot parameters in eDRUMin to do this. I'm wondering if additionally assigning the rim-shot MIDI note to the Snare pad's cross-stick sensor was actually the right thing to do. I'm also wondering if the BT-1 X-talk setting trades off sensitivity on the Snare rim in order to prevent unwanted triggering to the BT-1.
I'm even wondering if the eDRUMin does a better job of processing cross-stick and rim-shot sensing than Roland modules I've had in the past and if I even need a BT-1 for a reliable cross-stick trigger.
Ultimately, I'd like to get to a point where I can use a VST like SD3 and MIDI note velocities to trigger different rim sounds on the Snare. For instance, it should be possible to assign a stick rim-click to 0-60 and then full rim-shots start at 61-127. But my gut feeling is this will only be possible if I mount the BT-1 independently from the Snare in order to get maximum sensitivity from the rim-shot piezo
Please can you give me some pointers in how the eDRUMin differentiates between sensing rim-shots and cross-stick information from a Snare drum? Thanks.

First, update to version 1.6 if you haven't already. Did you see the video I posted about setting up the BT-1?

Re: Refining Snare & BT-1
Yes, I did see that video which confirmed I was on the right lines as far setting up the trigger attached to the Snare. I'll do the firmware upgrade now. Thanks again.
