Some info on the pedal if that's useful:

"With a switch, so it will fit on all standard sound modules (does not function with the Roland TD-9 or Roland TD-4 E-Drum Module)"

Hmmm.... damn, every company does its own thing.
My Millenium controller has an output voltage of 3.48 V I think to the TRS tip. It's just a mono jack/plug.

So I had to solder an adapter, from mono plug tip to the ring of a stereo plug, sleeve to sleeve.

I used the hihat controller mode then.

I don't know if there is something similar available to buy.

I checked it, this Millenium MPS-850 HiHat Controller has 3.4 V applied to the tip going down to 0 V when pressed.

With a stereo TRS cable you should be back in business ...

What do you use?

https://www.amazona.de/test-millenium-mps-750x-e-drums/

It's written in German, but when you scroll down you can see the the hihat cymbal upside down.

They say, that it's build kind of thick because of the moving parts inside...

If it's really not usable with the eDrumIn4 he could buy a used or refreshed FD8 and it should be fine. :D
I did that for the secondary hihat and I am really impressed how good and responsive such an easy construction of a softpot and a piece of rubber works. If you don't forget the silicone grease. :D
