Any Tips For Magnatrack Triggers with L80 Cymbals

Does that Bell Thresh control move at all when you hit the bell? If not, there's a good chance that you have a wiring issue. Make sure the bell piezo is connected to the ring of the second input.

The Bell Thesh control did move but not the Bell Scaler.

Looking at the manual page 19, it mentions to use the Roland 3-zone Ride pad type instead for a cymbal that is not supported. Is that the case for metal cymbals with Piezo triggers as well?

I double-checked, Bell thresh is just reacting to the vibration of the stick hits. I have the Bell trigger connected to input #2 and the bow trigger connected to input #1. Is the screenshot accurate for Metal 3-Zone input as far as how it gets automatically set?

With that option, I cannot get he bell to trigger for some reason but it seems to do so with the Roland 3-Zone ride option, however I'm using L80 cymbals.

Of course, that's what drum modules do. They read and interpret vibrations. So when you hit the bell, the bell thresh should move more that when you hit the bow right?

Maybe this will be clearer where I'm hitting the bell in both videos. Seems to not respond with the Metal 3-Zone Cymbal option, however it does with the Roland 3-Zone cymbal option.

Don't want to harp on this but I think the feedback will help me understand the ins and outs of modules better. As a drummer, eDrumming is rather new to me. If the 2nd option is what I should use, I'm fine with that; just wanted to check with you.

You know that you getting some double triggers in there right. In fact hundreds of double triggers from what I can tell. Don't bother with the auto calibrate. Watch this video about adjusting the controls. When you get the pad triggering properly, then we'll investigate the bell issue.

I spent quite some time trying different combinations of Transient settings. This is the best result.

It's a bit of a pita to set most likely because of the weight of the cymbal; it vibrates alot. At some point, I may need to get a ring to put around it but for now this is okay. The soft hits do get picked up still.

Still not sure why the Bell won't trigger with Metal 3-Zone. The wiring is correct - cymbal bow to input 1 and Bell to input 2. Don't think the trigger is defective because I tested it.

Okay, that's looking better, but you need to add some dampening if you want to get better performance out of it. As for the bell, can you confirm that the bell sensor is attached to the ring connection of the 2nd input?

I've got the triggers installed how Magnatrack shows it should be, except I'm not using the dual zone splitter because from what I understand, that should be used for choke. I emailed them confirming that. Their LV trigger manual states it.

One trigger is on the bow about the middle of it and the 2nd on the bell curve except the bow wire is connected to input 1 and the bell into input 2 on the eDRUMIN10. This setup is supposed to give me bow/edge triggering and bell as far as I know.
